Marine Le Pen’s 2017 campaign logo
Marine Le Pen declared her candidacy for the 2017 French presidential elections on April 8 in 2016. Her campaign has enjoyed her high approval from polls. She also appointed FN Senator David Rachline as her campaign manager. French banks were unable to lend money to the FN, which caused difficulty in funding. Instead the FN took out EUR9 million from the First Czech-Russian Bank in Moscow in 2014 despite European Union sanctions put on Russia due to the annexation of Crimea. In February of 2016 the FN asked Russia for a loan again which was this time for EUR27 million, however the second loan wasn’t due.
