Marine Le Pen declared her candidacy in the 2017 French presidential election on April 8th, 2016. Her campaign has enjoyed high support from opinion polling. She appointed FN Senator David Rachline as her campaign manager. French banks were unable to loan money to the FN and this caused difficulties in funding. The FN instead borrowed EUR9million from the First Czech-Russian Bank, Moscow, in 2014, despite European Union sanction placed on Russia after the annexe of Crimea. In February of 2016, the FN requested Russia for a second loan one time in the amount of EUR27 million, however the second loan was not paid. [124]
